I loved this. It really made me pause, because it definitely reminded me of a pattern I have. In theory, I know exactly what to do... but real life practice? things get messier.
The thing is that whether we’re rushing to school or just taking a slow walk in the neighborhood park, I end up in the same place: I’m trying to get things done, and my little ones instantly switch into explore mode. A butterfly to chase, running the opposite way because it’s hilarious, stopping to watch the garbage truck… it’s all equally fascinating to them.
I know I’m the one who should compromise at the park, and they should be the ones compromising when it’s time to go to school. But honestly, it’s not their fault if butterflies, squirrels, or whatever the animal of the day is decides to show up at 7 a.m.
