Friday Fieldwork: Sing Loud, Dance Bad
When the day feels heavy, the reset isn’t scrolling… it’s singing louder.
This Fieldwork came from a story I wrote recently about the power of singing and dancing with your kids, you can check it out at this link.
Bedtime rarely goes the way you imagine it. You want calm. Instead, you get negotiations, one more request, or Rudolph on repeat for the 200th night in a row.
And yet, those silly songs, the car playlists, even the off-key kitchen concerts have a way of lightening the load.
The worries shrink.
The laughter grows.
And your kids remember the noise more than the nagging.
This Week’s Fieldwork: The Joyful Noise Reset
Here’s your reset for this week:
Hit play.
Pick one song that makes you smile, or better yet, let your kids choose theirs.Sing loud.
No pitch required. Volume is the rule.Dance bad.
Awkward moves encouraged. Bonus points if you make your kids laugh.
Why It Works
Singing together spikes oxytocin which is the bonding hormone that
calms stress,
deepens trust,
and leaves connection long after the song ends.
Add movement, and you’re stacking dopamine and serotonin on top of it.
Translation? A three-minute kitchen concert is one of the cheapest, fastest ways to reset the family mood.
