These are incredible thoughts on building a household attitude of gratitude, and I think it's also helpful for those of us who don't have kids yet. Words of affirmation are so crucial for us all, and how beautiful it is to speak life into your loved ones and thank God for them out loud.

Thank you for sharing!

Totally agree. Gratitude isn’t just for parents—it’s for anyone building a home or a community that feels safe, seen, and full of life. And there’s something powerful about saying it out loud—naming the gift while the giver is still in the room. (Even if that gift is a kid handing you a half-eaten granola bar like it’s treasure.)

This is great! We all need words of affirmation, and kids thrive in them. In a household that is quite chaotic most the time, I cherish these moments and appreciate the reminder!

Thanks Eric! I recently realized that the appreciation I felt in my thoughts wasn’t always making it to the people who needed to hear it—especially in the beautiful chaos of a busy home. That’s what inspired this piece. I’m trying to be more intentional about saying the things I’m grateful for out loud. Our kids (and spouses) can’t read our minds—but they sure light up when they hear our hearts.
