Because burnout is a terrible New Year’s resolution.
Framing the end of the year as a preseason is a great way to finish off the year strong and go into next year ready to grow. Good read.
Thanks! I used to treat December like a sprint and then wonder why January felt like a hangover without the fun part.
Preseason helps me play smarter, not harder…
and actually have something left in the tank to grow next year.
What an insightful read!
I love how you've shared your thoughts on how motivation isn’t enough when your nervous system feels like its drowning.
Our willpower fades faster under stress.
But rest resets our brain’s capacity for change.
And it all comes down to...
"If you want your resolutions to last, start by recovering the energy to support them."
Thank you, and you’re so right.
I used to try to “power through,” but that usually just ended with me snapping at my kids and wondering why my goals kept collapsing.
Rest gives me a version of myself I can actually build from.
Thank you! And I feel that so deeply.
I used to push through everything too… until I realized I was just burning myself out and taking it out on the people I love most.
Rest doesn’t make you weaker.
Instead it gives you a version of youself so you can become stronger (especially for the people who we love the most).
Very insightful, love the idea of letting the quiet in more!
Thanks Chris! Its hard when kids love to resist anything quiet, but it is so wonderful!
Yes, a hard but worthwhile thing to do in December. It's only December 3rd, and I have had to remind myself to slow down at least 5 times!
