Friday Fieldwork: Start Where It’s Hardest
The hardest part isn’t the reps — it’s the first step.
This fieldwork came from a cold garage, a missed PR, and a surprising reminder about what real strength looks like. Read the full story in Monday’s post:
There’s this moment — maybe you know it —
where the alarm goes off, and everything in you whispers:
“Not today.”
“Start tomorrow.”
“Just skip once.”
That moment hit me this week.
Cold garage.
Sore legs.
A brain already negotiating the bailout.
But something quieter cut through the noise.
Not the pushy voice yelling to grind harder.
Not the guilt-trip whisper reminding me of my goals.
Something else.
It just said: “Start.”
Not to crush a PR.
Not to prove anything.
Just to begin.
So I did.
Shoes on.
Door open.
Out into the chill.
And what started as resistance slowly turned into rhythm.
Because starting didn’t require energy —
It created it.
🧭 This Week’s Fieldwork: Start Where It’s Hardest
Here’s your 3-step reset for the next time you feel stuck at the starting line:
1. Listen to the quieter voice.
Not the one yelling to quit — the one inviting you to begin.
2. Just start.
Forget the perfect plan. Forget the perfect energy. Just take the step.
3. Remember what really counts.
Not the streak. Not the stats.
But showing up for the people and purpose that matter most — even when it’s cold, early, and inconvenient.
Because the moment you most want to quit
is often the moment you most need to begin.
"Just start." Sometimes that simple, quiet advice is what we need more than anything. Thank you for the gentle and needed reminder today!
